The Fool is like the prologue before Chapter 1, it is just before the start of a new adventure and perhaps, this is the best kind of energy to be in before embarking on something new. Often, it is seen as a leap of faith that one takes before embarking on a new project.  The Fool also talks about potential, and being 0, it heralds a blank slate and there is nothing is set in stone yet.

It should be noted that the Fool can mean negative or positive things depending on the surrounding cards or what you are asking. Naturally, the Fool appearing when you are knee deep in a project may not bode well for the project. Then again, this depends on the surrounding cards. What the Fool does also show is about transitions from one phase into another. But there is no concrete outcome that can be seen when you receive the Fool.

Upright

The Fool is a fun, adventurous energy, and therefore if you are looking for these energies within your reading, the Fool appearing is a sign that this is going to go the way you want it to.

The Fool is a positive card to get if you are looking into getting a new job, or when it comes to whether you would be embarking on a new relationship. The answer is always yes! But the Fool also reminds you to be open to what is to come and to be open to the possibilities that his new venture is going to unfold for you.

Reversed

When the Fool is reversed, or has negative cards surrounding it, it could mean that you/the querent is being childish or foolish. It could mean that you are jumping into things without thinking much about the consequences.

When it comes to love, it could mean that the person the Fool is referring to is simply living day by day and has no plans for the future. And this may not be someone that you want to commit to. They may have some inner child healing that they need to work on first before being able to commit.

When it comes to career, you may be a little out of your depth, and you may not understand the full picture yet, so it’s best not to proceed forward or not to take unnecessary risks when it comes to career and finances.

Astrological / Temporal Associations

The astrological association that is often associated with the Fool is Uranus. Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, and this makes the Fool governed by the air element too. Uranus is about breaking free from tradition and about innovation and progression and discovery. It is usually associated with enlightenment, but sometimes Uranus can also be seen as rebelliousness and irresponsibility, some traits which may be associated with the Fool as well.
